Our six finalists are romping towards final judging day, thanks to an informative training course hosted by one of our valued sponsors, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag, a world-leading manufacturer of injection moulding machines.
The finalists attended a two-day special ‘Introduction to Injection Moulding’ course at the beginning of May. There, they received basic theoretical knowledge about injection moulding machines, together with mould design and properties of polymer materials, followed by a practical, where they enter machine parameters, conducted various process checks and made process adjustments to achieve the quality specification.
It was the first time the students had experienced a training course in this subject and the feedback we received from them could not have been more positive.
Commenting on the course, Chairman of DIP, Martin Sixsmith, said: ”This was the second consecutive year that our finalists have participated in the Sumitomo (SHI) Demag course and on both occasions it has been a great success. Our sincere thanks go to the course leader, Darren Vater-Hutchison, for his expertise and enthusiasm as well as to all those at Sumitomo (SHI) Demag who were involved in the organisation of this event”.
We are looking forward to seeing the six students at the final judging day on May 24th!
