Industry success for last year’s DIP finalist

Thomas Hamilton, last year's third place DIP winner has recently won the Young Designer of the Year at the Plastic Industry Awards.

In line with the industry award, Thomas has also been offered a full time contract at PDD where he was already working and introduced through the Design Innovation in Plastics competition last year.

Speaking of the prestigious award win, Thomas Hamilton said:

"I was honoured to be awarded Young Designer of the Year at the Plastics Industry Awards when up against some stiff competition. This is the second milestone in my career that has come as a result of receiving an award in the Design Innovation in Plastics Award 2013. The other is becoming a permanent member of the technical team at PDD which led on from my two week placement as part of the DIP award prize. I am very grateful to the Design Innovation in Plastics Award for the recognition I have received and would encourage any student designers to get involved."

Congratulating Thomas on yet another success, Martin Sixsmith, Chairman of the DIP Committee said:

“As a previous finalist of the DIP Student Design Award, we are thrilled to hear of Thomas’ success. It is very gratifying for all of us involved in DIP to see that his placement at PDD resulted in him being offered a full time contract. We send him our warmest congratulations and wish him deserved success as he embarks upon his career”.
